My first concert photo was at a U2 concert in 2005. Years later, I went to a Feist concert with a friend and took my crappy camera with me. One of the shots turned out surprisingly interesting which motivated me to bring my camera to more gigs, including those of Rooney, Dave Matthews Band, The Fratellis, Nada Surf and MGMT.

I really like photographing and concerts for combining my two biggest passions: photography and music. I listen to music on the littlest of occasions and the idea bringing the atmosphere of a great gig by a great band to a still image is rather challenging On a photography side, concert photography is certainly one of the most interesting subjects to me because a great audience, fast moving singer and beautiful coloured spotlights will in many cases lead to a great composition. It's challenging at the same time, because the usually bad light conditions and fast moving objects. Timing the shot has to be done very acurate and there's no second chance.

In October 2008, I bought my first professional camera (a Canon EOS 450d) and started shooting for a few bands in the Dutch indie scene as wel as some other occasions. These bands include I Kissed Charles and De Staat. So far, these bands have used my photos for display on their webpages.

On this website, I only publish my favourite photos from my professional work. Photos I made at other gigs with my standard camera will appear on my Flickr page.
